Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State said his administration would supply over 100 million litres of water to Katsina metropolis and environs.

Masari stated this when he inspected the Kofar Kaura Water Booster Station and the  Ajiwa Water Works in the state on Sunday.

He said that the Kofar Kaura Booster station would be remodeled to pump water that would be pushed from Ajiwa and Zobe Dams to Katsina and environs.

He said rehabilitation work was already ongoing in Ajiwa and Zobe Dams toward achieving the objective.

The governor said contract for the manufacturing of the facilities to be installed in Ajiwa Dam had been awarded to a German firm.

“The rehabilitation of the Ajiwa water supply scheme is a holistic one that encompasses the expansion of the dam, the water treatment plant and the power supply system to the facility.

“The chemicals rooms, the pumps, the filters among others, were all changed while the work has reached 75 per cent completion.

“If not because of the delays in international trade and travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the work would have been completed.

“By the time we complete this project, the Ajiwa water works will be able to produce 50 million liters of water for distribution to the teeming populace.

“This is in addition to the over 50 million litres that we expect from Zobe dam in Dutsin-ma Local Government Area of the state,” Masari said.

He said officials of the State Government would soon travel to Germany to witness the test-running of the equipment and their maintenance
