Katsina, Nigeria – E be like say communities for Katsina State don carry their matter for head, as dem dey negotiate with bandits to secure their safety and freedom. This one na wetin the state’s Commissioner for Information, Bala Zango, yarn on Thursday when he meet Niger State correspondents.
Zango talk say terrorism for Katsina don reduce by 70 percent. Na true! But he still add say the remaining unrepentant wahala pipo dey operate for border areas and forests. You fit imagine say some pipo wey dey farm, dey negotiate with bandits just to fit farm in peace. (No be small matter o!)
According to am, Katsina State Government no dey support negotiation with bandits at all, but dem go ready to accept any bandit wey wan change their ways. “We no dey accept any negotiation with bandits, but if dem decide say them wan embrace peace, we go welcome them back.” Zango talk.
He no just stop there o, him talk say government go rehabilitate any bandit wey fit drop gun. Na wa! E be like say government don turn to NGO for bandits! He tell dem say dem go receive proper education and support if dem change their life. Sounds like wetin dem dey do for reality show abi? (Na serious wahala we dey face, no be small!).
In the recent commotion, Governor Diko Rada don begin ask questions on how the African Democratic Congress (ADC) wanna tackle this insecurity matter if dem win election. Bolaji Abdulahi, wey be former Minister of Sports and ADC spokesperson, come talk say dem get plan to end banditry for Katsina, unlike the current ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), wey him say don fail for the matter.
“Governor Rada wan sabi wetin ADC go do differently. Good question! We go end banditry for your state, this one wey APC don give up on,” Abdulahi talk for him X account. (E be like say ADC dey plan to show APC how e be to handle wahala well!).
The question wey dey hang for air be say: how effective these negotiations go be in the long run? And wetin go be the angle wey the ADC go take if them get the chance? Na only time go tell if these community negotiations go lead to lasting peace or if na just temporary fix we dey see here.
As Katsina dey navigate this murky waters of banditry and insecurity, we fit only hope say solution go soon show face. No be anybody dey carry wahala for head, but abeg, make dem dey listen to community voices. Na dem go fit help solve dis matter once and for all.
