Kano budgets 2.5 billion naira for Dala Inland Dry Port-Ganduje

By Zubairu The IdrisKano State Government said it was spending 2.5 billion naira on infrastructure facilities at Dala Inland Dry Port to boost economic and social activities in the state.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje made the revelation Thursday during the opening ceremony of the 2021 Gas Sector Stakeholders Forum (AKK) organized by the Gas Aggregation Company Nigeria (GACN).

“Kano is an export processing zone; those who import or export goods can have their goods delivered directly here. We operate the port for the benefit of our people and our economy, ”Ganduje said.

The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that the theme of the forum was titled: “Optimizing the Economic Development of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano Gas Project” AKK “.

Ganduje thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for bringing the project to Kano knowing the business impact on the state.

He said the state government has set up an AKK committee that is educating communities along the pipelines and has engaged investors on the project.

“In order to attract investors, the first strategy we adopted is to ensure peace and stability in the state.

“We have identified vulnerable areas in terms of security, particularly in the Dansoshiya forest where we work in the Ruga colony and the Falgore forest, where we have established a military training ground.

“We are using technology to monitor these forests and protect our people,” he said.

The governor also said that the government has consolidated the industries of Bompai, Challawa, Sharada, Tokuntawa and the Tamburawa New Industrial Zone to maximize all the benefits of the AKK project in the state.

He revealed that research conducted showed that 88 industries were functional in Bompai and 78 in Challawa and Sharada.

He further added that around 201 industries were dying and needed to be reactivated, adding that the AKK project would tackle this challenge.

Ganduje explained that the state has a transportation advantage, saying work is underway on the roads that connect Kano to Kaduna, Kano to Maiduguri and Kano to Katsina.

Earlier, the president of the Gas Aggregation Company of Nigeria, Mr. Mansur Sambo, said the forum was intended to educate gas users as a prelude to the completion of the project.

He said the project would help revive dying industries in Kano and other states the pipelines cross.

Sambo noted that most of these industries were supported by a power supply for their operations.

According to him, the AKK project would restore the lost glory of these industries.

He also thanked the federal government for reviving the project, which had been in a coma for the past 30 years. (NOPE)
