Kaduna’s kidnapped chef regains freedom

By Amen Gajira

The traditional ruler of Jaba in Kaduna state, Chief Jonathan Maude, was released three days after his kidnapping.

The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that the 83-year-old royal father was kidnapped from his farm in neighboring Nasarawa state on Monday.

A source close to the palace, who pleaded for anonymity, told NAN that the traditional chief had returned home in “good condition”.

NAN, however, could not confirm whether a ransom was paid before his release, as the kidnappers reportedly demanded 100 million Naira.

When contacted, ASP Mohammed Jalige, spokesperson for the Kaduna State police, confirmed the release.

The traditional leader’s release is the latest in a series of kidnappings involving traditional rulers in recent times. (NOPE)
