Judge Frank Caprio, wey everybody sabi from him hit TV show, “Caught in Providence,” don pass away at the age of 88. Na wah! E don dey judge for almost 40 years, and him leniency don save many people from wahala wey fit make person tear eye express.
Caprio, wey start him court journey in 1985 until him hang him robe for 2023, na the man wey sabi show love, gree people second chances, and him always remind us sey justice no suppose dey harsh. “How I go fit serve justice when I go just add to person wahala?” Na wetin Caprio dey talk for him book and that one just dey touch heart!
E grow for Federal Hill, Providence, as second born of him papa Antonio and mama Filomena. You sabi wetin hin don pass through? Shine shoe, carry newspaper, and even work for milk truck. Talk about hustle; Caprio really hustle to reach where him dey. After graduating from Central High School, wahala no stop, e still bagged a bachelor’s degree from Providence College and teach American Government for Hope High School.
After him gree wear judge robe, Caprio no just sit down, him serve as chairman for Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education. Him no just dey collect money, him build scholarship fund in honor of his papa for Suffolk University School of Law, plus scholarships for Providence College and Central High School. Talk about total package!
Even when pancreatic cancer come knock for him door, Caprio still dey shine small light for darkness. Him don show us how to stay strong as he tell video sey, “This birthday na different one for me,” and him dey get treatment with some of dem fine doctors wey sabi wetin dem dey do.
Caprio no just dey represent law; him become part of family for many people as him gree open him heart for defendants. Even Representative Seth Magaziner don talk sey, “We don lose person wey dey original like Rhode Island. Him legacy of compassion go last forever.” Na true talk oh! E fit loss person for forme body, but the real essence of Caprio go dey with all of us forever.
As we dey mourn this great soul, we dey wait for funeral arrangement wey never show for ground yet. But one thing be sure, the light wey Caprio carry go continue dey shine for plenty hearts. Make we all strive to bring small compassion into our daily lives just like Judge Frank Caprio do am!
