Wetin dey happen for Rivers State judiciary? Na only judge James Omotosho sabi dance this political tango, and everybody don notice. From cases wey dey affect our big names like Nyesom Wike, we fit conclude say Omotosho na hin personal lawyer for some kind matters. Wetin we go fit call am? À la carte law, abi?
Na just last month, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sharpely declare state of emergency for Rivers State. After few weeks, Wike come dey talk say his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, suppose thank Mr. President for this action. E no long before dis talk land for Omotosho court, where he come blast say the plaintiff “should be grateful” — na wah! So, wetin e really mean be say, ‘If na dem get wahala, no be dem go carry am go court?’ (As in, make dem biko carry their wahala come my side).
Fast forward to October 2025, Omotosho don show again. He suddenly enter one case as if na hause where im dey stay. This time, Samuel Amatonjie, a Rivers State lawyer, dey challenge the emergency declaration wey match like waka pass. But as usual, the case look like dem don plan am ahead because e waka go Abuja instead of Port Harcourt. Omotosho now claim say dem no fit even begin this case, yet na this same judge go come turn around and chop cash of N9 million from the plaintiff. Chai! E no dey sweet for corner at all.
Na all these actions wey people dey observe wey dey raise eyebrows. If we dey follow our court system, we fit see clear connection between Omotosho and Wike hin political advantage. E fit look like say dem dey play one kind match together, where court na the pitch and Jungring Wike dey score goals. E no dey adding up! (E be like say dem dey chalk the line for the pitch).
From the 2019 election wey dem fit stop APC from presenting candidate, to Omotosho blocking PDP from giving Wike wahala for anti-party conduct, the man dey make moves wey dey show say him hand dey for the pot. E dey clear say omotosho no dey shy to align wit Wike and him people.
For November 2023, as some cases dey fly around, Omotosho don show again, quickly grant Wike loyalists plea to gag INEC — another matter wey raise serious question. How far e dey go? Wetin judiciary suppose represent? Meanwhile, de whole naija dey watch na, waiting to see how dis play go end.
Na so our judiciary don dey turn into Federal High Court drama series, and this Omotosho/Nyesom alliance don become the talk of the town. We need more than prayers, my people, we need real reform sharp sharp sef! The way dis guy dey act, e fit make movie producers go dey think of casting am for next blockbuster.
