Northup, the Bloomfield native who now lives in Nashville and grew up showing pigs at the Iowa State Fair, shined in a red shimmering dress during the opener while walking toward leading man Zach Shallcross with a pig on a leash named Henry.

The rosy ABC Network dating competition, featuring the Texas-based tech executive and former Rachel Recchia suitor, returned for its much anticipated 27th season on Monday night.

During a drama-tinged episode featuring one pesty contender and several overblown personalities, the social media marketer’s “Iowa Nice” demeanor was on full display.

“Oh my gosh!” Shallcross expressed, through snuffs and snorts, at the sight of Henry.

“Hello, hi,” Shallcross said. “Hi, how are you?” Northup asked.

After exchanging names, Shallcross asked “Who’s this?”

“This is Henry,” Northup later said before the trio walked together on the stony Bachelor mansion ground.

“So, I am a pig farmer, ok?” Northup said, followed by a laugh in the show’s infamous confessionals.

“I am from Iowa, I grew up on a farm, and I actually showed pigs growing up,” Northup explained. “Hence why we have him with us.”

“I love it!” Shallcross said.

“Henry honestly stole the show, he wowed Zach I think, so hopefully that’ll lead to a first impression, maybe, I don’t know,” Northup quipped.

Northup brought home the bacon on night one: the 24-year-old was a near-final recipient of Shallcross’ roses. Ten out of 30 contestants were eliminated by the thorny episode’s end while one competitor departed early.

But it wasn’t all champagne clinks and rose petals: “She’s manipulative,” Northup said through tears in a teaser of the season to come after the episode ended. Viewers can tune in and see if Northup asks Shallcross, “can I squeal you for a second?” Monday nights at 7 p.m. on ABC.
