Investigating Video Alleging Arrest of Suspected Election Manipulation Syndicates in FCT
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command is currently investigating a video circulating on social media that claims to show police operatives arresting alleged manipulation of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to a report by The PUNCH, the purported video had a caption asserting that the arrests were due to tips from anonymous sources that the location was used for corrupting last Saturday’s elections.
Among the alleged items discovered at the premises were BVAS machines, laptops, desktop computers, and other materials.
When asked about the incident, SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT, stated that police could not yet verify the video’s authenticity, explaining that the individuals in the video did not appear to be officers of the command due to contrasting uniforms.
Adeh further mentioned that investigations are still underway, and that the public will be informed of the findings in due time.
