Insecurity forces Gov. Tambuwal to decline honorary degree offer

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State declined an honorary degree offer from Nahda International University College (NIUC), Khartoum, Sudan, due to security concerns in Nigeria.

Tambuwa’s special media and advertising adviser Muhammad Bello made the disclosure in a statement he handed to reporters on Tuesday in Sokoto.

“The award was provided as part of the graduation ceremony of 38 students from Sokoto State who obtained degrees in medicine and surgery, dentistry, pharmacy, laboratory science, and information and technology technology. communication at Ibn Sina University (ISU) and NIUC.

“Tambuwal declined the offer after arriving in Khartoum, informing the management of the two universities that he would not take the offers due to insecurity in Nigeria.

“I will not be able to accommodate your humble request due to the state my nation is in at this time, but you may wish to defer the award to a later date.

“For now, I have come to see my children and my wards,” Tambuwal, quoted by Bello, told Professor Qaribullah Abbas, acting dean of the NIUC. (NAA)
