INEC Presents Certificates of Return to Tinubu, Shettima
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented Certificates of Return (CoR) to the President-elect and Vice President-elect of the 2023 presidential election on Wednesday afternoon in Abuja.
Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the election with 8,794,726 votes while his running mate, Kashim Shettima, secured the requisite votes to join him in the CoR presentation.
At the International Conference Centre’s event, Tinubu was with his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, while the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiama, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha and other dignitaries attended.
The winning candidate spoke after the presentation of the CoR, saying his victory was not only for him, but for all Nigerians who wished for a better society and implored his opponents to join hands with him.
He promised to work hard to bring prosperity, jobs and chase away hunger, seek abundance in times of scarcity, establish peace and foster compassion.
The huge crowd of supporters and party loyalists at the presentation testified to the popular victory.
The Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu. awarded the CoR to Tinubu and Shettima, allowing the commencement of their four-year tenure from May 2019.
