Abuja, Nigeria – If you dey plan to register for your voter card, listen well! The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) don approve say make dem carry voter registration waka go ward level for Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Dis one na part of their plan as dem dey prepare for the major off-cycle elections wey dey come. Sam Olumekun, wey be the National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, drop the gist on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
Voter registration go start from September 29 and go end on October 8. Olumekun talk say dem go extend the registration wey dey happen now at the FCT office and the six area council offices to all the 62 wards, making total of 69 centres wey people fit register. (E be like say dem want turn everywhere to registration centre. This Nigeria, anything fit happen!)
But abeg make you no forget say the online pre-registration option go stop on September 15, 2025. This one mean say if you dey do online registration, make sure you show face for physical centres before e too late o. As e be, with only online registration, your wahala fit start because dem no go accept am alone.
Olumekun also remind us say dem go suspend voter registration for FCT on October 8, by the law wey dey talk say dem suppose stop registration at least 90 days before election day. The FCT Area Council election go hold on February 21, 2026, so make you no play with time o. (Time no dey wait for anybody, abeg!)
After the election, dem go resume both online and in-person registration until August 2026 when dem go suspend am again for the 2027 general election. Olumekun dey urge everybody wey never register, make dem seize dis chance wey don show! Citizens wey don register for other parts of Nigeria fit transfer their registration come FCT, but make sure say you no go dey register more than once, because na punishable offence.
Dem don upload the list of registration centres and their addresses for INEC website and other official channels, so go check am out. If you fit, make sure say you gather your people, and let dem know where to go and when. Dis one no be wahala; na chance to make your voice count!
