India’s PM urges residents to keep wearing face masks

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged people not to be complacent about adhering to the COVID-19 protocol, especially wearing a face mask outside their homes.

In his address to the nation, Modi said the country has overcome the pandemic to a large extent by administering more than a billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines, which he sees as a milestone.

Greeting people in the middle of the holiday season, the prime minister said everyone should continue to follow the COVID-19 protocol, including wearing face masks.

“Just as we put on shoes when we leave our homes, we also need to make a habit of wearing face masks when we leave our homes,” he said.

According to the Prime Minister, there is currently a sense of optimism and positivity in the country.

“With the new unicorns starting up, the booming real estate sector and Indian businesses securing record investments, there is now a sense of positivity and optimism in the country,” he said.

He called on Indians to buy Indian-made goods during the holiday season, during the celebration of the Festival of Lights, Diwali next month.
