Independence Day: America Dey Lose Global Juice, World Don Waka

Toronto, Canada – This year, as Americans dey gather for their usual Independence Day jollification, something dey happen wey nobody fit ignore. Flag dey wave, fireworks dey burst, but if we check am well, e be like say the political system wey all these gbas gbos dey represent don scatter like small pikin wey chop too much sweet.

Wey you look am, na 249 years ago, United States take waka go free from British Empire. But this year, e look like say dem don break away from the world order wey dem build with big big talk and even bigger big egos, plus normal common sense and decency wey na the real backbone of any nation.

For Americans, this wahala wet dey grip their country be like hurricane, while for wey no be American, na accidental revolution be this matter. As United States dey retreat back into their shell, wetin e go mean for other countries? Na di big question wey dey hang like cloud wey no fit rain. Canada, where I dey live, don face the shock wey e no fit compare to any other country. Dem Americans wey we call friends and family, now na dem dey plan to weaken our economic base like say na video game.

Mark Carney, the new Canadian Prime Minister, don already sign big legislation to set trade barriers lower and dey find new partners wey fit help us breathe. E be like say after we don tell America “go fuck yourself,” na real work dem don enter. We still need to figure out how we go survive without dem, as dem they raise the economic stakes higher than ever.

Since Donald Trump take enter seat, I don dey work on audio series wey dey shine light on how Canada go survive this post-American world. Wetin I don see dey shock me well, well! Canada dey like mansion wey get big hole for foundation. E no even get proper security service finish – just internal security wey no fit handle small wahala, not to talk of American annexation where dem fit come try claim us like say we be property.

We go need big changes to national life, like becoming nuclear powers or launching full security defenses, fit take abeg protect ourselves from neighbor wey dey drift into authoritarianism faster than wey fit say ‘fighting for democracy.’

The decline of America don create some psychological gaps too. Despite all their wahala, America be like lighthouse wey give many people hope for freedom and open-mindedness. Now e dey look like that light don dim, and everybody dey wonder wetin go happen next, as we dey face pop quiz with serious consequences.

Funny enough, the same America wey don dey preach exceptionalism don dey destroy wetin make am great before. Dem power come from reliable trade networks and big alliances, but now, na systematic demolition dey happen. E sure like say dem enemies no fit destroy dem reach like this, as dem dey turn their back on their own allies.

Now, wey dem dey struggle to build a new world order, e don clear say na brutal frankness go lead the way. No be like that time wey Canada and Mexico fit make deal with Trump; right now, their word dey mean less than monkey nut. America dey act anyhow with military, and dem no even remember wetin you do for dem.

US scholars don dey flee to Toronto, wey don turn lens to see wetin dey happen to America. Travel go US don drop 45% wey be statement of boycotting, but na serious common sense we dey reason. America don make am clear say foreigner no dey welcome, and we no wan enter wahala.

To make matter worse, no matter the wahala we dey face for the world, e no fit get solution from America again. Na time for everyone to look inside themselves and find new answers. Independence Day dis year get real meaning; na for countries wey no dey America. The lesson wey Americans don teach the British, dem dey pass am around: no necessary nations, no exceptional countries, and no permanent orders for this world. Just more history—and survival.
