IGP tasks new police constables on discipline, professionalism

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Baba Usman, has enjoined 357 newly recruited police constables to be disciplined and professional in the discharge of their duties.

Usman stressed that discipline and professionalism “is the bedrock of policing”.

The IGP, who was represented by AIG Yunus Akeera, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 17,  gave the admonition at the passing out parade of the constables from Police Training School, Oyin Akoko, Ondo State.

“The Police under my leadership has zero tolerance for indiscipline and any act that may be antithetical to police professionalism.

“I, therefore, admonish you to resolve not to engage in any act that will be unedifying to your good name, that of your families and indeed the force, as you commence your policing career today,” he said.

In his speech, DCP Aina Adesola, the Commandant of the trainning school, charged the new constables to be diligent, selfless, patriotic and good ambassadors of the school

“As policemen, you must have respect for the rule of law, fundamental human rights and your loyalty to the nation and the force must be total and absolute,” Adesola said.

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State, Oyeyemi Oyediran, and his Ekiti State counterpart, CP Morenikeji Adeshina, who was represented by DCP J A Babagida, were also present at the
