Igbo community in Ghana receives High Commissioner Ibas promises partnership

The Igbo community of the diaspora, Ghanaian chapter, has promised to work with the new high commissioner of Nigeria, retired vice-admiral. Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, to boost the growth of Nigeria.

Chief Chukwudi Ihenetu, Eze Nd’Igbo of Ghana, said in a statement released Saturday in Abuja that the pledge was made at a civic reception held in honor of the high commissioner in Accra.

Ihenetu, also deputy secretary for advertising of Ndi Eze Nd’Igbo in the diaspora, assured the high commissioner of his willingness as the Igbo leader in Ghana to work with him.

“On behalf of the palace elders and the Igbo community in Ghana, I welcome the High Commissioner to Ghana. I assure you that my firm and I will work with your office to ensure an easy job for you.

“We will support you and work closely with you to enable you to succeed in your new mission.

“So whenever you need our services, we will be ready to render it in a patriotic way.

“We wish you a good stay in Ghana and also pray that God will give you health and wisdom to rule and guide our people,” he said.

He congratulated the Deputy High Commissioner, Amb. Gambo Yusuf, for standing firm before the High Commissioner’s assignment to Ghana.

He thanked Yusuf for playing a key role in ensuring that Nigerians in Ghana remain free from undue harassment, especially during the days of trade disputes when Nigerian-owned stores were closed.

He also congratulated Nigeria’s High Commission Minister Sylvanus Dauda, ​​who he said had been diligent, approachable and patriotic, adding that these attributes made him endearing to all Nigerians in Ghana.

“Whenever our people knock on their doors on issues like immigration, harassment and other issues, the Honorable Minister is always on the ground to deal with the issues and do their best. He is a real blessing for Nigerians in Ghana, ” he said.

Ihenetu also praised Chargé d’affaires Ms Esther Arewa for her support to the Nigerian community in Ghana, saying her maternal care helps Nigerians seeking help easily get needed support through her office. (NAA)
