Gunmen kill Ebubeagu operative, set body ablaze in Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command confirmed on Sunday the murder of a member of the Ebubeagu Security Network, ESN.

The victim, Ifeanyi Orogbo, 32, was killed and partially burned by the assailants.

Police spokesman, Ebonyi Command, DSP Loveth Odah, said the incident occurred on Saturday night in Igweledeoha, Amagu, in the Ikwo local government area.

According to her, the DPO of the Ikwo Police Division said that she received a phone call from a source in Igweledeoha that an ESN agent had been killed.

“He was partially burned by unknown persons in his beer tent on Agubia Road.

“The DPO said it quickly mobilized a team of police officers to the area, but the culprits had left the scene when they arrived.

“He said that the body was taken to the General Hospital for preservation and autopsy,” said the police spokesman.

Ms. Odah said that two suspects had been arrested in connection with the crime.

He said that the police commissioner, Garba Aliyu, has expressed his dismay at the murder and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
