Group lauds Air force over killing of 120 bandits in Zamfara

By Collins Yakubu-Hammer

Rights group, Civil Society Conference for Peace, Security and National Development praised the Nigerian Air Force for neutralizing 120 bandits in multiple airstrikes in Sububu Forest in Zamfara.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr. Adamu Kabir, the head of the group, Wednesday in Abuja.

Kabir said the news of the airstrikes killing dozens of bandits confirmed the importance of the group’s constant appeals to citizens to provide useful information to security agencies.

He also praised the citizens for offering information about the activities of the bandits to the security agents, saying that “the war against the bandits and other criminals will indeed be won if the citizens cooperate with the security agencies”.

“We enthusiastically greeted the airstrikes which resulted in the deaths of over 120 bandits in Zamfara.

“According to the report and further confirmation from NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the feat was achieved because the staff acted swiftly on the basis of information provided by locals.

“We hereby reiterate our appeal to all citizens to report suspicious activity to the appropriate security agencies.

“What security agencies can achieve depends to a reasonable extent on the support they receive from the general public,” the statement read in part. (NAA)
