Nafiu no just stop for the allowance matter; him also thank the governor for the ongoing reconstruction work wey dey happen for the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp for Awgu. Na wetin we dey call “good governance” as e show say Governor Mbah dey appreciate the work of NYSC for the state. If you no sabi, Awgu camp na the first orientation camp for Nigeria since 1973. Na history wey dey sweet to talk about!
According to the big man, him don come Enugu to check how things dey go for the camp and make sure say everybody dey jolly and gally as dem suppose. E talk say Enugu dey very ‘conducive’ for corps members, with some of dem even wan stay after dem finish service. You no go blame them now! Who no like better place?
On top the matter of corps members wey dey serve, Nafiu drop some bombshell: 11,116 indigenes from Enugu dey serve for different parts of the country, while 5,636 of dem dey serve right inside Enugu. E encourage the corps members make dem respect the culture and values of wetin dey happen around dem, to foster better relationship.
Then, wahala follow as e talk say e don extend the service year for 131 corps members wey no follow rules well. E even beg the public make dem show support for the NYSC. Na true wah! Public support be like pepper soup for body.
As the governor respond, he make am clear say his administration go complete the work for Awgu camp sharp sharp. Mbah talk say dem no fit forget the history of 3Rs – Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Reconciliation – after civil war. Him wan put Enugu back on top map, and that na serious business!
Mr Mbah also recognize the NYSC as a platform wey dey bond young people from different backgrounds to come together for national service. E don plan other support for corps members and speak highly of how dem dey help the state with work for hospitals and schools. Na real teamwork we dey talk about!
