Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa commiserated with his Sokoto State counterpart, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, on the death of his elder brother, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello.

Okowa's condolences are contained in a statement by Press Secretary Mr. Olisa Ifeajika on Thursday in Asaba.

He said he had joined the Tambuwal family, community and people of Sokoto State in mourning the octogenarian and community leader.

He said the late Bello lived a life of impact and urged the family to take comfort.

Okowa paid a laudatory tribute to the deceased for being a good man and community leader.

He urged the family to take comfort in the fact that he lived to witness the outstanding successes achieved, who was the Speaker of the House of Representatives and now the Governor of Sokoto State.

“We received with dismay the news of the death of his older brother, but we are consoled that he has lived a life dedicated to the service of God and humanity.

“We share his sorrow and pain in this period and pray that God grant him the courage to bear the loss, as we pray for the repose of the soul of the late Wazirin Tambuwal.

“On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Delta, I mourn with you, my brother Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, the unfortunate death of your beloved brother.

“It is my prayer that God comfort you and all the family and the people of Sokoto and give you all the strength to bear the loss,” Okowa said.

Tambuwal, in announcing the death, said: “It is with sublime submission to the will of Allah (SWT) that I announce the death of my precious elder brother, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello, Wazirin Tambuwal.

“The octogenarian, who died on Tuesday night, has been the Waziri of Tambuwal for the past 37 years, having succeeded our late beloved father, Alhaji Umar Waziri Usmanu.

“May Allah forgive him his shortcomings and grant him Aljanna Firdaus. Amin.”
