The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the governor, while inaugurating the 18,000– seater capacity stadium said it would breed talents in Akwa Ibom and the nation as a whole.
Bello described the stadium as fantastic and nice facility that was built on record time.
According to him, this stadium would encourage the youth from Eket in football and produce quality footballers.
“We will flag-off the stadium with a match between Kastina United and Akwa Ibom United,” Bello said.
Bello commended Gov. Udom Emmanuel, for what he had done for Akwa Ibom.
“You are a great man with a clean heart and your commitment, your dedication and promised to Akwa Ibom is fulfilled and God bless you.
“I thanked God for Governor Emmanuel on behalf of Akwa Ibom and Nigerians as a whole for a good example as a leader.
“You used resources available to the state in the areas of infrastructure, education and sport among others,” Bello said.
In his remarks, Emmanuel said that the multi modern Eket Sport stadium was a key driver talents in the state.
“This is a great day indeed for the youth in Akwa Ibom and sports community both in the state and the nation.
He said the first major competition that would be held in the stadium would be the police sports festival which would hold in the last quarter in the year.
The governor reassured the people of Eket that every single Project on going would be completed before the end of his tenure.
“It will be all completed, so have no fears, we will finished all the ongoing project in Eket no matter what happens.
“Even if the contractor does not want to work, we will push him to work,” Emmanuel said.
He commended the indigenous contractors for the construction of the Sport stadium.
Earlier, Mr Monday Uko, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports said that the stadium was built by indigenous contractors from the state.
