He said this at the inauguration of the National Executive Council of the National Association of Nigerian Students (S) for 2022/2023 in Abuja on Thursday.
He said governors were considering using legal ways to resolve ASUU‘s challenges so academic activities could continue smoothly at the nation’s universities.
He congratulated current S President Usman Barambu and his executives on a well-deserved victory and called on them to build on the successes of their predecessors.
He promised to support the welfare of the association for the betterment of Nigerian students.
“We have already started and we are going to get to the bottom of it and we pray that this is resolved and we pray that there is not another strike because the students have suffered enough and I am sure that the president knows it.
“So, we are looking for legal ways to finalize the salary payment. I assure you that together with the 36 governors we will support you and make sure things get better for the betterment of students.
“The election is a difficult task and we must do it with the fear of God and I know that Barambu will lead this organization with the fear of God and I know that with his Exco he will have a wonderful future.
“I will be with you in difficult times, I will guide you, I will support you and I will open other doors for you and I will do everything possible to grow this partnership that will continue to be the solid foundation for development,” he said. she said.
Abubakar praised the former president, Sunday Asefon, for his leadership role in unifying the association and called on the new president to build on his successes.
He also thanked the factional leader of the association for coming to support the new president as well as for believing in the unity of the association.
For his part, the president of the association, Usman Barambu, promised to ensure the strengthening of students so that they have sufficient leadership skills.
Barambu also gave the assurance of an inclusive government saying that the interest of students will continue to be a priority during his term.
“What I have today is a responsibility, to lead and build on what my predecessors have done, and I have accepted it with the promise to continue the course of Nigerian students in general with full commitment to higher heights.
” With a level of support and solidarity, I was grateful from students, senior comrades and stakeholders, not only in my emergence as the leader of the new executives, but also in making our inauguration a great success.
“I have no choice but to declare my loyalty and absolute commitment without compromise to the hopes, aspirations, interests and vision of our students.
“It is in this light that I accept the challenges of leadership and with our collective effort, we will lead our beloved organization back to its past and lost glories,” he said.
He, therefore, announced some members of his cabinet while running the affairs of the association.
He mentioned Usman Ayuba as his Chief of Staff, Jonah Danladi as his General Director, Administration and Fice and Pedro Obi as President of his Advisory Council.
Likewise, the president of Natives and Promotion of Peace among S, Olalekan Smart, thanked the interested parties for their role in resolving the gap in the association S was not lost.
He said that all the dispute resolution mechanisms were activated and, to the glory of God, all the aggrieved parties came to the table and a new cause was defended.
He said the association is committed to running an all-inclusive government of S, in which the full well-being of all Nigerian students, both at home and in the diaspora, is of paramount concern.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the position of the association. (
