Gas Price Don Waka Up Like Lagbaja For Lagos, Abuja and Ogun!

Lagos, Nigeria – E be like say di price of cooking gas don turn wahala as e don jump sharply from N1,200 to N2,500 for some parts of Lagos and others wey dey join di party across di kontri. E no dey easy at all; some gas depots for di West African country dey sell at N2,000 naira per litre, while some dey chop better money at N2,200 naira. E be like say gas na gold these days!

For di capital Abuja, things no better either; di price of gas don climb from N1,000 naira to N1,800 naira, and some vendors dey shout say dem keep am for N1,700 naira. Na who wan cook food go fit dey smile dis time around? Not too many people, I fit tell you dat!

For Ogun State, dem dey sell one litre of cooking gas for N2,200 naira. E no go better for all dis locations wey dey monitor gas price; na see as di product dey scarce like lottery ticket wey no dey land. Some vendors dey hoard di product, as dem wan make extra cash – no be small waka dem dey do!

Mr. Chika Umodu, wey dey deal for di gas biz, don yan say e get gas, but di wahala be say e no fit give all im customers wetin dem need. “If you need like 10kg, we go give you 4kg, so e go fit go round, and I get plenti customers wey I bin dey serve, so I get to consider dem too,” he tok (E just dey share small portion like dem dey do for small chops!).

Another gas dealer wey no wan make we mention im name don open mouth say for di past five days, no gas don land for im side. Di one wey land today, na why as e don reach, plenti people rush come buy. E also talk say na di strike wey oil workers do last week dey cause all dis palava.

No forget say di price of CNG gas wey people dey use for car don also waka from N230 to N380 per litre. Wetin be di cause of di gas scarcity and price wahala? Plenty people don begin talk say na di oil worker strike wey cause am. Di Group CEO of NNPCL, Mr. Bayo Ojulari, don yarn during im briefing with President Bola Tinubu say di gas price hike na due to di oil worker strike. E get mouth oh!

Although Ojulari come to give report about oil production, e also no fit hide di talk about gas price. “Di increase for gas price dey relatively artificial because of di period of di strike, wetin mean say gas loading don dey delay by two to three days,” he talk (E don scatter everything, abi?).

“As time dey go, e go take time before distribution dey fully restored,” Ojulari add. Na people wey get di gas dem dey hold am jump price as distribution don dey suffer during di strike period. Im get hope say di gas prices go return to normal as everything dey come back to order. Criss cross!”

“People wey get di product don raise di price because distribution no dey during di strike time. My expectation be say since tins dey turn back to normal, prices go follow suit as well,” he conclude. Na hope we go dey manage now till dem finally land di gas for our hands.
