Portharcourt, Rivers State – Naija no go dull anytime soon as Governor Siminalayi Fubara don run mad jam mad with the latest announcement wey affect all the commissioners and public officers for Rivers State. Dem don waka as Supreme Court don put Martin Amaewhule as the rightful Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. That one na big wahala because it mean say all the moves wey Victor Oko-Jumbo make as Speaker dey null and void, and all di commissioners wey dey serve under am, dem gats pack their load quick quick.
Dis news drop on Wednesday, right after the Governor throw one private valedictory session for dem at Government House. As dem dey mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Fubara take time to thank all di cabinet members for their small, small contributions wey help Rivers State some kind of way over di last two years. I mean, free palm wine for dem no fit ease the tension wey dey everywhere!
But hold your horses, e no finish there. Fubara also use dis opportunity to remind everybody say make dem support President Bola Tinubu as dem dey try work together for better Nigeria. E sweet to see small small butter pass like dis, na so we go chop am.
With dis latest development, we fit expect say no more than 10 commissioners go remain as we dey wait for di Governor to reconstitute di cabinet. E fit shock you if dem quickly replace dem like light bulb!
Moving on, Governor Fubara don also clear house again, this time around, e don dissolve di Board of Rivers State Microfinance Agency. Na just small time wey dem join di Pension Board as one of di bodies wey get dem make dem wahala during di state emergency period. E good say Jonathan Tobin wey dey manage di Microfinance Agency since October 2023 get reappointment, but now only in acting capacity as dem dey prepare ground again for new board to enter.
As for di ₦4 billion loan scheme wey dem don launch for small businesses, Tobin go still dey manage am. Na we go dey watch to see wetin go happen next because dis loan na jackpot for any hustler wey wan start market!
Meanwhile, na last week di Rivers State High Court don throway case wey members of di Local Government Service Commission file down. E be like say di Commissioner, Goodlife Ben and other five people don check di Nigeria court box wrong as them challenge their removal wey come from di former Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas. Di lawyers dem no gree let di court rest as dem don withdraw di case wey dem tell say e dey painful but na better decision for peace.
Di judge wey handle di matter, Justice Frank Onyiri, no gree give any terms for dem withdrawal, instead, e commend di claimants for taking di noble road to peace. Na so e be, peace no dey come easy for Nigeria, but dem dey try small small.
Finally, dem don suspend di planned strike by local government workers after dem meet with Governor Fubara. Di strike dey happen because of wahala wey come up for Emohua Local Government Area where di Council Chairman dey argue say some staff no fit get di pay because dem never verify dem. But after dem gist with di Governor, e look like say peace don return as dem fit find common ground.
Clifford Paul, di Rivers State NULGE President, come yan say dem don resolve di matter. Dem don assure di workers say di Governor don talk say dis matter go clear like one fresh plate of jollof rice. Definitely good news for all di workers wey dey expect their pay faster than you fit say ‘I need my salary!’
In di end, better days dey shine for Rivers State as Fubara dey handle di matter like di ogbonge boss wey e be. As we dey celebrate Nigeria’s 65 years, make we also dey look forward to better governance and hustling for every paddy!
