Port Harcourt, Rivers State – Na wa! Governor Siminalayi Fubara don drop bombshell as him dissolve Rivers State Pensions Board (RSPB) just like that. E no even give dem chance to say goodbye. Dis announcement happen on September 26, 2025, and e come straight from the office of the Head of Service, Dr. Inyingi Brown, who sabi how to run things well.
All dis wahala begin when the former Sole Administrator, Vice-Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, call the board to order on September 12, 2025, during the emergency rule for the state. Him wan make dem tackle the long-standing pension crisis wey don dey troublesome since Adam be born. But now, Fubara don clear the stage and call for a new order.
As per the juicy details wey dey leak from the Governor’s office, dai say the Accountant General go take over the functions of the dissolved board sharp-sharp. No time for wahala (no drama allowed!). According to the official statement, “Members of the defunct board are by this notice advised to hand over all properties and assets of the board in their possession to the Director of Administration of the Board.”
But wetin make this board scatter like this? Hmmm, no reason no shed light on that one. Maybe Fubara just dey feel say life too short for unnecessary capsule acting (or maybe them dey hide something wey dey smell). Whatever the case be, the people of Rivers State dey watch how this drama go unfold.
In another segment of the statement, Brown add say, “His Excellency, the Executive Governor, will in due course constitute a new board to manage the affairs of Pensions.” E be like say Fubara get plan to run am better. We hope say dis new board go fit do wetin di previous ones no fit accomplish. Na only time go tell!
Make we dey track this matter well well, because we go need am for details when di new board come on board with their own agenda. In the meantime, make dem for the old board no chop belleful, as dem don hand over everything wey belong to them. One chance done close, another one dey wait! Dis na politics for you, e be like soap opera wey no dey end!
