Foundation partners MDAs on children policy

Through a Global Social Development Foundation MusaSaffron (Saffron SDGF) partners with government ministries, parastatals and agencies in developing national child protection policies and procedures.

Saffron SDGF strategic director Oluwasegun Oyedijo, who made the disclosure in a statement to reporters on Monday in Abuja, said it was timely that we were doing things right at this point.

Oyedijo said Labor and Employment Minister Chris Ngige stressed that the policy would be an instrument for preventing child abuse, as well as guiding the implementation of child protection procedures in the country.

He added that the executive director of Saffron SDGF, Opeyemi Ebulu-Eyuruntari, stressed that children are important for the human capital of the country.

“This policy will be optimally developed to provide a safe and conducive environment. Protecting children from neglect, abuse, violence and exploitation, an important aspect that should be given priority.

“The implementation depends on the relevant government offices, and we encourage them to let it work,” said Ebulu-Eyuruntari.

The executive director said children are the heritage of God and the future of every community, urging states across the country to adopt the policy document once finalized.

Oyedijo said the Federal Department of Women’s Affairs and Social Development would help the document do a lot to protect children, as many of them were afraid to go back to school.

“The federal government and other relevant stakeholders are working to ensure that children return to school and are protected and safe. “

Oyedijo said that Saffron SDGF is working with various stakeholders and federal departments including: Federal Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Development, Federal Ministry of Labor and Employment, among others.
