Former INEC Director Reacts as Appeal Court Grants INEC Request to Reconfigure BVAS
Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, a former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Director of Publicity and Voter Education, has responded to the recent decision by the Court of Appeal to allow INEC to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) prior to state elections.

Speaking on Arise Television’s The Morning Show, Osaze-Uzzi stated that all data in the BVAS can be saved and backed up in clouds and servers, without needing to tamper with it to configure it.

Reconfiguration involves configuring the machines to start at a specific time, shutting down at a designated time, and taking a period of grace to accredit people.

Osaze-Uzzi emphasized that accreditation figures should not be added to the BVAS until the port is open to limit the time of accreditation.
The Court previously rejected efforts by Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, to prohibit INEC from reconfiguring BVAS equipment used in the Presidential election.
The Court agreed with INEC that the backup server contains information on accreditation uploaded from the BVAS devices and can be accessed at any time.
