My fellow Nigerians, as we dey mark two years since this our government waka start, I greet una well-well. Na una get the strong mind and never-say-die spirit. Two years ago, una hand over goment give me when wahala full ground. Since then, we don dey face the gbege together with boldness and focus.
Wetin I meet for ground no sweet at all. The country matter need urgent U-turn. Na why I sharply cancel two things wey dey kill our economy — the long-time fuel subsidy wey no dey help anybody and the plenty foreign exchange window wey don turn corruption HQ. If we no stop those things, Nigeria for don enter gbese wey no get brake.
As we dey work to fix the economy and bring everybody together as one strong country, I gatz thank una for the support and trust. This our Renewed Hope waka na for all of us. We dey halfway now, 24 months in, and today, May 29, 2025, na correct time to show una how far we don go.
When I start this journey, I promise God and Nigerians say I go face our problems head-on — to rebuild trust, grow money for everybody pocket, and bring back economic balance. Today, I fit talk am with my full chest: the reforms dey work. Na stronger and more stable Nigeria we dey build now.
Under this Renewed Hope Agenda, we promise say:
-
We go fight economic wahala
-
We go make the country safe
-
We go reduce corruption
-
We go reform how goment dey run
-
And we go pull Nigerians out of poverty
As we dey do these things, we no blind to the suffer wey some people dey face. We no dey take una patience play. But if we no do those reforms, na big wahala like high inflation, fuel wahala, dollar wey go fly pass roof, and general poverty go jam us.
Even though living cost still high, small small we dey see light. Rice and other food price don begin come down. Oil and gas sector dey bounce back — rig count don rise by over 400% for 2025 and investment don pass $8 billion. We don balance economy and now we dey strong reach to face global wahala.
Our money plan for 2025 still dey on point. We dey meet our crude oil money target, and deficit don drop from 5.4% in 2023 to 3.0% in 2024. We dey generate more revenue and our goment accounts don clear pass before — Q1 alone give us over ₦6 trillion.
We stop the Ways & Means money borrowing wey dey cause wahala before. NNPC no dey carry subsidy wahala again, dem dey bring money come now. Fuel supply too dey better as we dey refine am locally.
Our debt matter dey improve. Even though forex adjustment make our debt-to-GDP reach 53%, our debt-to-revenue don drop from nearly 100% in 2022 to under 40% for 2024. IMF debt don clear and foreign reserve jump from $4 billion in 2023 to over $23 billion by end of 2024.
All these efforts help states collect extra ₦6 trillion for 2024, so dem fit pay salary, pension, build road, and invest for better life for everybody.
Tax matter too no dey left behind. We don start one bold reform wey dey give result. From just 10%, our tax-to-GDP don jump to 13.5%. No be luck — na better tax plan and clear system cause am.
We wan end this multiple tax headache wey dey kill small business. We wan make life soft for poor people. Food, education, and hospital service no go carry VAT again. Rent, transport, and solar energy go free from VAT. E go help reduce household wahala.
We don end those yeye tax waivers and replace am with correct incentives for agriculture, tech, and manufacturing. Na to boost growth and empower everybody.
For youths, we dey open road for digital jobs. We dey push exports and build our trade system to dey work faster and better with the National Single Window project.
To protect small taxpayers, we dey create Tax Ombudsman — one independent body wey go stand gidigba for fairness.
Wetin dey sweet pass be say we don launch better national fiscal policy — to guide tax, borrowing, and spending. Na long-term plan wey go help everybody chop life.
We still dey look agriculture — we don bring plenty tractors, tools, and fertiliser. Na food we dey chase so hunger go commot for street.
Health sector no left behind. Over 1,000 Primary Health Centres don dey shine again. Extra 5,500 PHCs dey upgrade. Six new cancer centres dey — 3 don ready. Dialysis dey free for some hospitals. 4,000 women don born through free CS under our Maternal Health program. Health insurance coverage jump from 16 million to 20 million.
GDP growth rise to 4.6% for Q4 2024 — full year na 3.4%. Na one of the best for 10 years.
But we sabi say no good economy go work if people dey fear for their lives. Security na priority. We don make sure security people dey get better support, better pay, and better tools.
Our soldiers dey try — dem don take back many places from bandits for northwest. Farmers don return to land. Roads don better, people dey travel freely again. Kidnappers dey fear, our security dey rescue people steady. I don tell our chiefs — make dem no sleep — we must finish this evil wahala. Every Nigerian must dey free from fear.
Human capital na top agenda too. More students dey get access to education now with student loan and new schools. Skilled health workers dey go villages. We dey fight disease and support poor people through social welfare.
For youth empowerment, na access to funds, skills and jobs be the koko. With NASENI, youths dey build drones, electric motors, and do tech wonders. Projects like Innovate Naija, Irrigate Nigeria, and the Gora Energy Park dey ginger development. NASENI dey show how goment fit work.
We dey build better roads — Lagos-Calabar Highway, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road, Second Niger Bridge, and many more. Electricity projects dey everywhere — grid, transmission and solar energy to reach school, hospitals and houses.
We dey plan big cultural show — Motherland Festival. Nigeria go host the world soon. Na to showcase our culture, talent, and beauty.
Diaspora Nigerians too dey help shape our country — with their skills and money. We don create diaspora bonds and better BVN system to make investing for Nigeria easy.
