Zaria, Kaduna State – Na Monday wey just pass, Zaria residents wake up to devastating news as flood wash away two beautiful souls and still dey look for two people wey disappear. Wetin happen? Heavy rain come down like say na competition, and na for Tudun Jukun area the wahala begin.
As the heavy downpour start, Fatima Sani Dan Marke, wey just 18 years old and her small sister Haneefa, wey dey three years, they return from their grandma place when motorcyclist wey dey carry dem, wey dem dey call Mallam Daddy, nearly enter wahala for drainage side. Na that moment Fatima jump off the bike, trying to cross the drainage when she and little Haneefa suddenly slip inside the flood. Chai!
Witness wey dey there, Mustapha Badamasi Dan Bakano, narrate wetin happen: ‘Na when di driver hit di edge of di drainage, both of dem jump off di motorcycle. But as Fatima try cross the water, e no gree, she fall inside. Dem just disappear.’ E pain me say di small babe don still dey miss, and di wahala no end, as another guy wey try rescue dem also enter di water and follow dem join.
Be like say no be dem alone wey fall victim to dis crazy flood. Just the day wey dis one happen, another girl, Zainab Abdulkadir, sef get swept away while she dey come back from Islamiyya school. Di rain no dey play o! People wey dey near, try call swimmers to help, but di flood dey too much; dem no fit reach am.
Fatima’s funeral wahala happen the next day, where dem bury her and confirm say she be di daughter of Alhaji Sani Danmarke, popular businessman wey sell fertilizer. E no easy for di family, as dem dey mourn di loss.
Dis flood wahala dey show say wetin sabi everybody for Zaria talk true – di drainage system need serious upgrade! Residents complain say di new Gaskiya main road wey plastic cross, no dey cover all di drainage, and if dem fit fix am, maybe, just maybe, family no go dey mourn again.
Honestly, dis kind of thing no be new. Last month, di sad news of Praise Malachi, wey just run check her SSCE result, come cross di river for dat flooding area. After di excitement, di bad water carry her away. No paddy wey fit stand watin go happen. If government fit plan sabi for rains, di community go glad. Water sabi for wahala, so wetin dem dey do?
As we dey shout for sustainable actions, heavy rain dey send another warning. Dis November 2025 na heavy rain dey come again. We fit form task force, but di way dis rain dey show, e go take community and government join hand together to sav e di day!
