In January 2022, the first part of the Czech “tied financial donation” for Ethiopia was installed at the Abebech Gobena Hospital in Addis Ababa. Czech companies Linet, TSE, SMT and MZ Liberec provided medical equipment for modern neonatal and delivery ICU rooms. Representatives of MZ Liberec carried out the installation and training of hospital staff.
Named after the founder and director of one of the oldest Ethiopian orphanages, also known as Mother Teresa of Africa, Abebech Gobena Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in the Ethiopian capital and focuses on the care of maternal and child health. The hospital was established after the start of the Covid-19 pandemic to strengthen the capacities of the Ethiopian health system. The provision of headboards, delivery beds, children’s beds, baby radiator heaters, transport baby incubators and electrocoagulators as part of the official Czech development aid was very well received by the hospital staff and by representatives of the Ministry of Health. from Ethiopia, who appreciated the high quality of the products provided.
The second part of the “tied financial donation” comprising medical gas generating units will be installed in Ethiopia in the coming months.
