The National Programme Coordinator of Federal Government FGN– Climate Change Adaptation and Agribusiness Support Programme (FGN–CASP), Alhaji Muhammad Idah, says the programme was organising a workshop for farmers on soil and water conservation techniques from seven states of the federation.
Idah stated in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria on the sideline of the workshop in Katsina on Wednesday.
He said that the pogramme was organised for seven states namely, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara,Katsina,Jigawa, Yobe and Borno who were collaborating with International Funds for Agricultural Development (IFAD) /CASP on weather and climatic conditions.
According to him, the initiative will improve agricultural practice that prevent soil erosion, increase soil fertility, conserve as well as manage rain water for sustainable crop production.
“This training/ demonstration will not only improve agricultural practice, but will also go long way in boosting the economy of the participating states.
He said that the importance of the training could not be over-emphasised in view of the weather and climatic conditions affecting agriculture globally.
