Di Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, na him drop this matter for memo wey dem issue on Thursday, September 11, 2025, to di Registrar/Chief Executive of di Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
Alausa yan say dis new directive dey follow government serious decision to boost professionalism for di teaching sector. E talk say from 2027, any secondary school wey wan conduct public exams like WASSCE, NABTEB, NECO, and SAISSCE, better make dem teachers get TRCN certification, or else dem no go fit participate.
“As from March 2027 for WASSCE, May 2027 for NABTEB, June 2027 for NECO and June 2027 for SAISSCE, any school wey no get registered and licensed teachers go disqualify as exam centre,” na wetin di memo talk. E also urge state governments to ensure everybody dey comply with di directive sharp sharp, no time to waste o!
“By di way, compliance go dey monitored, and schools gatz achieve at least 75 percent compliance rate for 2026, and full compliance by 2027,” e add. E still talk say teachers wey no get education degree but don teach for at least 12 months fit enroll for National Teachers Institute (NTI) to get professional certification.
Di minister no carry matter play as e emphasize say dis program go make dem fit get TRCN registration after completing short courses wey dey last between three to six months. “Wetin I dey talk be say dis directive suppose get top priority, make stakeholders across di country sabi am well, so accreditation for public exams no go jam!”
