Na Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, as e dey represent the F.G., come yarn dis one on Sunday, signed by Magdalene Ajani, wey be the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
Mr. Tunji-Ojo no just stop there; e come give us small gist about wetin June 12 mean for we as citizens. E talk say, “June 12 na our historic journey wey follow build nation wey truth and justice dey reign, peace dey jolly, and our future dey shine.” (As if say we no know say na every June 12 wahala dey come with hope and ‘small’ commotion sef!)
E come dey reflect on how we don dey shake body since 1999, and for the Minister, the past 26 years na testimony of we resilience, strength, and the fact say Nigeria no dey die easily. Now, that na the spirit! E also talk say dis time wey we dey so don make every Nigerian get hope for better tomorrow. (Who no like hope?)
Na dem years dem don show say democracy no be just one kind thing wey you go do one time; e dey need continuous work, openness, and hustle to keep improving. E jam the mic pass as e drop am like, “Democracy na serious business wey dey involve the will of the people.” Na so we go fit determine wetin go happen for the political, economic, and social waka of dis country wey don too dey vex us sometimes.
June 12 as Democracy Day no be just any day o! Na day wey last happen during 1993 presidential election wey Moshood Abiola for una wey sabi yan, win am but dem come cancel am like say dem dey play small game for corner. (Abeg, make we no go there again o!)
So, as we gather dey go celebrate this Democracy Day, Mr. Tunji-Ojo don encourage all Nigerians to reflect o. E dey call on everybody to hold their minds tight for nation-building, unity, and keep the fire of democratic values burn. (Abi wetin you expect from person wey carry minister title? Na so matter be o!)
