Federal Government Don Declare Friday Public Holiday for Mawlid Celebration

Abuja, Nigeria – On Wednesday, the Federal Government of Nigeria announced that Friday, September 5, 2025, go be public holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. Na the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, talk am for statement wey him release.

For di statement, Tunji-Ojo congratulate all Muslims for di country and even those wey dey abroad as them dey prepare to mark dis occasion. Him talk say make we all reflect on di good virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion wey di Prophet show us. (Na dis virtues wey fit save Nigeria from wahala oh!)

Di minister also talk say make people wey no be Muslims no carry their minds far. Instead make dem use dis holiday to pray for peace, security, and di stability of di country. He talk say support for di government efforts go help promote national unity and sustainable development. (E better make we dey united before we fall inside trouble!)

“Di celebration of Eid-ul-Mawlid na chance to strengthen our brotherhood, promote peaceful coexistence, and learn di Prophet teachings of mutual respect and selfless service,” Tunji-Ojo talk again. (Na so we fit chop jollof rice, shake body, and enjoy each other as one nation!)

Him still encourage all citizens to stay law-abiding and dey observe security measure. E remind us say na so we go fit enjoy di benefits of di policies wey di government dey put for ground.

Mawlid dey happen for di third month of di Islamic calendar, Rabi’ al-Awwal. Na so e dey many people dey observe am with prayers, lectures, and acts of charity. For Naija, dis day na public holiday because of di large number of Muslims wey sabi take part for di celebration.

As we dey prepare for di day kadara, we fit expect more prayers and calls for peace from our leaders, especially as Nigeria dey face many security and economic wahala. (E no go too much if we fit just find small peace for one day, abi?)

So make we carry our minds together and enjoy dis holiday well, as we dey wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters a joyous and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration!
