FCT Water Supply Go Disrupt For Two Weeks, Na So E Be

FCT, Nigeria – E don happen! Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) get reason to prepare for serious wahala as water board don announce say dem go disrupt water supply for two weeks. This one na because dem dey do rehabilitation work on the water treatment plants for Lower Usuma Dam.

The wahala go start from last Friday, May 30, and e go last till June 13, 2025. Wetin be reason for this disruption? Na to connect some important electro-mechanical equipment wey dey crucial for the plant upgrade. Na work wey suppose make our water supply beta in the future, but e go first bring some short term wahala.

The board talk say dem dey beg residents to stock water well ahead, just like person wey dey prepare for dry season. “We appeal to residents to kindly store water that may last them for this period, including an alternative supply to augment their needs,” na wetin dem talk.

For many Abuja residents, this news dey vex but dem sabi say sometimes, you need to chop bitter pill to enjoy fine soup later. This wahala fit affect everyone – from house dem to businesses and even schools. A water resource analyst, Amina Bello, don talk say this interruption, though e go cause small stress, e dey necessary for the long-term betterment of water supply. “This maintenance na overdue, once e finish, e go improve water supply reliability in the FCT,” she yarn.

Some residents no carry matter play, dem don express their frustration. Ibrahim Musa, wey dey live for Gwarimpa area, say, “Two weeks without steady water na serious case, but if e go mean say we go get beta supply later, we go manage.” Na so e be!

The Lower Usuma Dam na big source of water for Abuja wey dey supply portable water for millions of residents. So, this temporary shutdown no be small matter.
