Eyewitnesses say the explosion burst around 10 am for DICON Ordnance Factory Disposal Pit, where dem dey try destroy some expired materials. Before una go think say na wahala from outside, the blast make plenty residents fear say na terror attack be this.
Maria Sambo, wey be the Public Relations Officer of DICON, come clear say the explosion occur during final stage of controlled destruction of expired explosives wey dey contain some wicked materials like Ammonium Nitrates. The organization don dey do this disposal since July, but dem say wahala don happen just as dem dey conclude the job.
The blast don scatter many things like primer caps and propellants, wey cause panic for Kurmin Gwari area, and residents report say buildings shake like chai! E be like movie, as people run for their lives think say bomb don explode.
Meanwhile, the sole victim who die we never hear him name yet, but Sambo talk say the body don dey for mortuary and dem don rush the injured ones go 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital for Kaduna. Chai! Na serious matter o!
Residents no fit hold their feelings as dem gather for St. Gerard Catholic Hospital for Kakuri, where some people dey weep as doctors dey try do miracle to save lives. As for DICON, dem promise say dem go find wetin cause the explosion, and dem don set up Board of Inquiry to investigate the matter.
Military don also give their condolence to the families of those wey suffer for this incident. General Christopher Musa come assure say everything dey under control, and wey people no need to panic. “Normal activities go continue as DICON go oversee safety standards,” he talk.
