The subsidy comes from Eid-el-Kabir of the state “Udhiyya for orphans”.

The Sultan of Sokoto and the General Chairman of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, presented the amount to district chiefs for distribution to final beneficiaries in Sokoto on Sunday.

While appreciating the state government for supporting the gesture, he urged district leaders to ensure fairness in accepting responsibility.

The Sultan also praised those who still use their hard income to increase the amount of what has been given to them each year.

“As you can see, the state government has taken on a very difficult responsibility to all of you. The money given to you is intended for orphans and you all know the consequences of eating their possessions.

“Therefore, I urged you all to avoid or even attempt to use the money for your personal activities. If you don’t add it, you shouldn’t reduce it, ”he warned.

Earlier, Malam Muhammad Maidoki, the chairman of the Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission, said that Udhiyya money should be shared among the state’s 87 district heads, in accordance with the instructions of Governor Aminu Tambuwal.

He said each district will receive N 220,000 for the purpose of purchasing a cow for Udhiyya orphans on behalf of the state government and Sokoto Sultanate Council.

Maidoki commended the district leaders for their commitment to the exercise while calling for more dedication and help to orphans and the needy in society.

He also thanked the state government and other wealthy people for their continued support in alleviating the hardships of the needy and urged others to emulate such a philanthropic gesture. (NAN) ()
