Eid-el-Kabir: the governor of Kogi preaches love and peaceful coexistence

By Lizzy Okoji

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi urged the people of the state, the Muslim Ummah and Nigerians in general to continue to embrace peaceful coexistence, love and kindness.

Bello said so in his Eid-al-Kabir message released by his chief press secretary, Onogwu Muhammed, on Monday.

According to him, the lessons of sacrifice, patience and faith demonstrated by the prophet Ibrahim during his earthly journey should be absorbed by the faithful Muslims and the other brethren.

The governor also said that good deeds and acts of kindness should be extended to the less privileged in society, as an extension of Allah’s love and benevolence towards mankind.

He further stated that the act of kindness and benevolence should not be limited only to the holiday season but at all times.

He said his administration will continue to ensure a safe and secure environment, where everyone can celebrate such a season to the fullest, while urging citizens to behave peacefully for the cause of the celebrations.

“Kogi has benefited from a more solid integration between religion and ethnic differences and this could be replicated across the country, if citizens see themselves as Nigerians first before any other disparities.

“In times like this, the faithful should offer prayers for the peace of our dear nation and also for leadership at all levels, as this will be very effective.

“My government remains committed to creating a state that will be on the path to progress and development,” Bello said. (NAA)
