Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kwara Command has confirmed the deaths of 10 people in an isolated crash in the state.

FRSC Sector Commander Jonathan Owoade confirmed the incident to the Nigeria News Agency (NAN) in Ilorin on Tuesday.

He said the crash involved a black Toyota Hiace commercial bus with the vehicle registration number LND 742 XK.

Owoade said the crash happened on the Oko Olowo / Oloru road in Iyemoja on the outskirts of Ilorin, the state capital, adding that the crash was the result of a speed violation.

“FRSC Olooru Unit Command received a call around 3:50 pm today regarding an accident in Iyemoja on the Oko Olowo-Olooru highway.

The accident was a fatal accident involving a black Toyota Hiace commercial bus with vehicle registration number LND 742XK.

“18 people were involved and unfortunately 10 of them lost their lives and eight others were injured.

“The cause of the crash was the result of a speed violation,” he said.

The sector commander said the FRSC rescue team took the injured to Ayo Hospital in Okolowo and Ilorin General Hospital, while the corpses were deposited in the hospital morgue. general.

He said the obstruction caused by the crash was lifted with the help of the Nigerian police.

Owoade warned motorists against violating road safety guidelines, adding that the effect of speeding was a traffic accident.

He advised road users, especially travelers, to exercise caution and patience on the road.

“Slowly but surely we are succeeding. The prayer of every traveler is to reach his destination, no matter how long it takes.

“Speed ​​violations, fatigue behind the wheel and breaking traffic rules can cut those expectations short.

“May we not die prematurely with our own hands,” said the sector commander. (NAN) ()
