The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it has deployed 1, 159 personnel and 28 vehicles in Niger to ensure safety on roads during the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations.

This was contained in a press statement signed by Commander Raji Egigogo, Public Relations Officer of the corps and made available to newsmen in Minna on Friday.

“The command has deployed 1, 159 officers and men, and 24 functional patrol vehicles, three ambulances and one heavy duty tow truck to ensure a hitch free traffic during the Sallah.

“This arrangement will also monitor and ensure enforcement of traffic rules and regulations across Niger state,” he said.

Egigogo urged the public, especially motorists to observe safety precautions while using the roads and abide by the Coronavirus  (COVID-19) protocol of social distancing in their vehicles.

He advised the people to always wear their face masks and observe social distancing as they celebrate.

The Corps PRO stressed that the personnel of the FRSC would be on all the highways in the state to ensure strict compliance of overloading and COVID-19 physical distancing amongst commuters and to respond to distress calls.

He then wished the citizens of the state a hitch free celebrations.
