Abuja, Nigeria – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) don clear am say dem still dey investigate former governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, over serious wahala wey concern corruption. As Okowa and the current governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, jump ship from PDP to APC for April 2025, people begin dey wonder if EFCC go allow dem escape justice. But no, no, no! Tahir no gree make dem talk say EFCC dey protect dem.
“No politician wey go escape investigation because e don shift allegiance. We dey do this work without any political influence,” Tahir yarn like say e be Oracle. He no waste time, he emphasize say everybody go face the music, irrespective of their political connections. “This case still dey under investigation, we no go rush am because we wan ensure say when we show for court, we get solid case to present,” he concluded, dropping mic.
Tahir also clear say dem don see how rushing cases go lead to bad outcomes before. So, e better make dem take their time and do the thorough ground work. After all, no be small matter when e reach to investigate a governor wey don dey control state resources for eight years. We no dey rush for serious cases, make we get am correct.”
Meanwhile, ol’ EFCC don dey achieve some serious milestones under Ola Olukoyede leadership. Dem don recover over ₦566 billion, $411 million, plus plenty properties in two years. Na correct progress be dat. Olukoyede tell the gathering for Abuja say dem don handle more than 19,000 petitions and file over 10,000 cases since him tenure begin. As dem dey highlight their achievements, EFCC also dey catch suspected fraudsters. For December 2024 alone, dem arrest 792 suspects wey dey involved in investment and cryptocurrency fraud.
