Meanwhile, some weeks ago, DAILY POST report say NYSC dey worried about di high number of corps members wey dey relocate from Edo State to other states. Di worried come from Mrs. Frances Ben-Ushie, di Edo State Coordinator, during di swearing-in ceremony of di 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream I corps members. She talk say di high rate of relocation dey caused by lack of feeding support during di orientation course and di non-payment of state allowance for serving corps members.
“Di lack of feeding augmentation during di orientation and di non-payment of state allowance for di corps members wey serve have led to many corps members moving to other states,” she explain.
On Saturday, May 11, 2025, di 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream I corps members turn di NYSC permanent orientation camp for Okada into a vibrant hub of culture and camaraderie during dia cultural carnival float wey showcase Nigeria’s rich diversity. Di event feature traditional costumes, dances, and symbolic performances from different ethnic groups, as di corps members engage in inter-platoon competitions for cultural heritage.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Frances Ben-Ushie praise di corps members and camp officials for their participation. “Di NYSC cultural carnival no be just for entertainment; e dey about learning to respect each other and promoting unity. Dis float dey serve as reminder of di strength we get from our diversity,” she talk.
Platoon 8 take first place with dia display of di iconic Benin Ikaba Festival. Platoon 10 take second place with ode to di Hausa-Fulani culture, while Platoon 4 come third with an energetic showcase of Effik heritage. Di celebration wey get exciting inter-platoon games, including di lively “catching di train” contest, add extra joy to di day.
Di camp director, Mr. Akeem Adepeju, commend di corps members for their creativity and discipline. “Wetin you all show today go remain a memorable part of your service experience,” he add.
