The Enugu State Police Command, on Wednesday, assured residents of the state of adequate security before, during and after the Easter festivities.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, said this in an Easter message made available to Nigeria News Agency in Enugu.
Ndukwe assured members of the public of the preparedness by the police to provide adequate security during the period of the celebration.
“Consequently, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmad Abdurrahman, enjoins Christians to go about the celebration in the most responsible manner.
“Abdurrahman also implores them to continue observing the preventive measures on the COVID-19 scourge, as stipulated by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and avoid violating the restriction orders in force.
“To this end, the commissioner enjoins all Christians to use the period of the celebration to reflect and pray for Christ’s intervention to end the Coronavirus pandemic, while felicitating and wishing them a remarkable celebration,’’ he said.
The police commissioner also advised the people of the state to remain vigilant, steadfast and prayerful in the face of the deadly scourge.
He urged them to promptly contact the command or email it in case of emergencies, complaints, enquiries and suggestions.
NAN recalls that the Federal Government had declared April 10 and April 13 as public holidays, to enable Christians in the country to partake in the Easter celebrations.
