Don’t leave your children’s training to teachers, proprietor advises working-class parents

Festus Adedayo, owner of a private nursery and primary school in Ilorin, has advised parents not to leave their children‘s education solely in the hands of school teachers.

Mr. Adedayo, who gave the advice in Ilorin on Saturday in an interview with the Nigerian News Agency, said parents have a role to play in shaping their children’s careers and futures.

According to him, most parents are too busy to give their children a solid moral and ethical upbringing.

“Teachers can’t do it alone. Raising a child requires a joint effort, which includes the dedication of parents and teachers.

“Parents should teach their children the basic ethics of life from their childhood.

“How to dress decently, how to relate to the opposite sex and the people around you, how to obey the laws, and how to stay focused in life.

“Stop blaming teachers for your children’s indiscipline. You as parents need to start first before the teachers take over. Stop expecting teachers to do it alone,” he advised.

However, the owner called on parents to create time for their children and also act as watchdogs to guide them through life’s challenges.

However, he urged teachers to be of good conduct in their daily work and act as mentors to their students.
