Director wants stakeholders to invest more in scientific research
1 Dr Adeneye Talabi, the Director, Technology Acquisition and Adaption Department, Ministry of Science and Technology, has urged stakeholders to invest vigorously in research to boost national economy.

2 Talabi gave the advice during an interview with the Nigeria News Agency on Monday in Abuja.

3 According to him, investing in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) by relevant stakeholders will complement government efforts and a vital step toward national development.

4 “High-level investment in research and innovation is essential for economic competitiveness and improved living condition in an increasingly globalised world.
5 “STI has become modern and global tool for fast-tracking sustainable development vital for nation’s economic and social progress.
6 “Any nation that fails to promote science, technology and innovation will find itself at the backyard of comity of nations,” he said.
7 Talabi said that the ministry was deepening effort to reposition STI as a national top priority endeavour to guarantee sustainability and improved quality of life for Nigerians.
8 The director said that the ministry was ready to advance implementation of its industrial revolution plan based on local mass production of needed goods and services by Nigerians.
9 According to him, the ministry and its agencies have been in at the centre of the production of appropriate technologies to meet several demands in the country.
10 “ Such appropriate technologies to meet the needs of sufficient energy, boosting agriculture produce, improving health delivery and quality education, among others,’’ he said.
