Some Nigerians in the diaspora took to the streets of New York on Monday to support their homeland as world leaders gather for the annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Nigeria News Agency reports that the campaign of solidarity and support for the continued existence of Nigeria as a single geopolitical entity has been organized by “One Nigeria Group”.

observed that the group’s activities had since gone viral on social media with their street protest and a flash mob performance in support of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Images and videos shared on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms highlighted the successes of the various flagship programs undertaken by the Buhari administration since 2015.

also observed that participants waved the Nigerian flag, wore T-shirts and carried banners announcing progress; their commitment to one Nigeria and their aspiration for peace and progress.

reports that President Buhari has since arrived in New York for the high-level meetings of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
