21st National Sports Festival Delta 2022 Local Organizing Committee Chairman Patrick Ukah is feeling good about the ongoing event’s hockey arena in Asaba.
Ukah said that the ultra-modern facilities were one of the biggest legacies of the Festival, noting that having the tartan courts, indoor sports hall, swimming pool and other facilities ready is normal, but having an amazing building like the hockey arena is very special.
Ukah said: “The turf at the hockey arena is astronomical and compares to some of the best in the world.
In Africa, the hockey field should be one of the best.
“Another interesting part is the shelters that are being built there.
We have around 80 rooms there and therefore it can double as a playing field for more than three teams at the same time.
“We are very proud of the hockey arena for the 2022 Delta Sports Festival.
It is good and massive enough to host African and world hockey events in the future.
” The 21st National Sports Festival taking place in Asaba, Delta State, continues today and ends on December 10 at Stephen Keshi Stadium.
