Scrabble Federation
The Nigerian Scrabble Federation (The Nigerian Scrabble Federation (NSF) has said the ongoing Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta state, has so far registered the largest number of states and athletes since the sport was introduced in the festival).

Nigerian Scrabble Federation President Toke Aka, who expressed his happiness at the interest shown by more Nigerians in the sport, said the successes of the Nigerian team in international championships have attracted more people in their different regions.

However, he declared that the NSF would not give up giving more players.

from all regions of the country the opportunity to hone their scrabble skills by organizing competitions at the national level.
Also speaking about the massive player registration at the Sports Festival, NSF Vice President Bright Idahosa said that with the large influx of players at the Festival, scrabble would soon become one of the top sports in Nigeria.
“27 states and 264 players registered for scrabble at the ongoing Sports Festival in Asaba compared to the last edition in Edo State where only 23 states registered.
“This has shown that there is a huge improvement when it comes to knowledge of the game.
“At this point, eight states have won gold medals so far, which shows that the game is highly competitive and there is no pushing.
“Each state that registered for the scrabble event came with enough talent to compete in various categories of the sport.
Players discovered in various grassroots tournaments are also battling it out on the big stage of the Festival.
“Without a doubt, the level of Scrabble is improving in the country and I think that by the next Sports Festival, all 36 states of Nigeria will have a Scrabble team.
“This means that we will continue to produce more talent that will still maintain the country’s enviable ranking on the world stage,” he said.
