The music star was arrested and detained on Tuesday by the Independent Commission for Corrupt Practices and Other Related Crimes (ICPC) for allegedly diverting money intended for N-Power beneficiaries.

But in a statement released by his management on Wednesday, the singer said he has no fraudulent or incidental contractual relationship with any group.

It further noted that D’banj has no connection to the disbursement or operations of any government funds through any agency or its subsidiaries.

Maryam El-yakub Musa

In the statement, Dbanj’s lawyer, Maryam El-yakub Musa, said the singer visited the ICPC headquarters immediately after arriving in Nigeria, contrary to reports that he was avoiding questioning.

According to Musa, the accusation against Dbanj is not established, so there is a need to clarify the reports and set the record straight.

Daniel Oladapo

“It is instructive to point out first of all that the report on the arrest and detention of Mr. Daniel Oladapo Oyebanjo is wrong, malicious and detrimental to the justice system anywhere in the world and we advise that the general public be well oriented.

“Emphatically and as a matter of policy, Dbanj and his management do not engage in business unless it is legitimate, properly documented and obtainable by law,” he said.

South Africa

He admitted that Dbanj was invited by ICPC regarding the investigation a month ago and that he sent letters to the agency through his lawyers, informing them of his schedules in South Africa and promising to visit the commission when he returned.

It added that the singer honored the invitation on December 5 around 2:00 pm immediately after his arrival in Abuja.

But commission officials, according to Musa, reported that he returned the next day because he was late for any interview that day.
