Czech authorities have launched a murder investigation into a fire in a flat that killed 11 people at the weekend in the city of Bohumin, prosecutors said on Monday.
According to a spokesperson, a 54-year-old man is suspected of having set fire to a flat on the 11th floor of the 13-storey prefabricated high-rise building on Saturday.
Police found traces of an accelerant, likely to be petrol.
Media reported the man probably wanted to take revenge on his wife, who was attending a family gathering in the flat.
Three children were among the dead, while 13 other people were injured, with two of them still in critical condition.
Other inhabitants of the building accused the fire department of reacting too slowly.
According to the fire department, the first fire-fighters reached the building six minutes after the call, though flames were already visible from the windows.
Report says the incident marks the worst fire disaster in the Czech Republic in the past 30 years.
