COVID-19: Nigeria records 6 deaths, 226 new cases

Nigeria has recorded six COVID-19-related deaths with 226 new confirmed cases in 14 federation states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The NCDC made this known via its website on Friday morning.

According to the NCDC, this brings the total number of infections to 20,8,630.

Nigeria’s news agency reports that the 226 new cases reported Thursday showed a drop from the 251 cases reported in the country on Wednesday.

The center said the FCT has reported 73 cases while Plateau has reported 34.

The others are Lagos (25), Gombe (22), Abia (16), Osun (13), Kano (7), Rivers (7), Ekiti (6), Kaduna (6), Oyo (6), Delta ( 5), Edo (3) Jigawa (2) and Nasarawa (1).

“Today’s report includes: four states with zero reported cases: Bauchi, Ogun, Ondo and Sokoto,” he said.

The NCDC said more than 3,142,971 million samples of the virus from around 200 million people nationwide have been tested.

He added that a national multisectoral emergency operations center, activated at level II, continued to coordinate national response activities.

The center said that to date, 20,8,630 cases have been confirmed, 19,636 people have been released and 2,767 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the FCT. (www.)
